![]() We thought the butternut tree was going to make it unscathed through the heavy snow and then ice storm. At 11:50 p.m. on January 19th, one large upper branch couldn't bear the weight any longer and broke taking two even larger branches down with it and the power lines. One branch was 17" in diameter by 22' and another was 21" in diameter by 16'. Damage to our house was not too bad--one branch poked a 5" hole in the ceiling and there were a few more smaller holes. Ray Gleason from Cascade Tree Experts, the tree's caretaker came this morning to survey the damage and cut the limbs off of the power line. He believes the tree will live on.....thankfully.
